Prices for drilling and casing wells are usually quoted by the foot and may vary according to the type of material and difficulty of drilling. For example, air rotary drillers can efficiently penetrate hard, consolidated rocks like granite, sandstone, etc. but have difficulty with sand, gravel, or boulders that collapse when drilled.
